The Old Oak Tree...

Those of us who are wood workers, know how precious a commodity it is.  And when we witness the death, of very old and beautiful white oak, it is really emotional.

The next house over from our house, stood this very Old Oak Tree, that we have enjoyed for over 50 years.  This tree is 1 of only 2 in our city of this age, 150 plus years with a 52 inch diameter.

The house was recently sold.  A new owner of the property, decided it needed to come down, and so it was done.  And now, it is gone forever.

Unfortunately there is no city ordinance with regard to tree removal.  We are a city of many trees but there are only a few, that are special.    And passing ordinances, regarding private property, would be difficult.

We have a preservation society but they have no legal authority.  They do try to do some prevention activity...  But again, this is a matter of owner's rights.  So be it .  I personally mourn this loss.!!!

Does anybody out there feel as I do about wood or this tree.  Please stop by my blog and tell me
